aX Profile: Linh Tran, Associate Social Strategist

With our recent acquisition of New York City-based company, BigBuzz Media Group, the AUDIENCEX team has grown to include employees from diverse backgrounds in marketing and technology, each driven to execute creative strategy and innovative media planning to deliver targeted awareness, engagement and sales for our clients. Linh Tran, who joined the aX team from BigBuzz plays an integral role on our organic social media team, helping to develop strategies for our clients to build their presence across social media channels, ultimately translating to brand awareness, growth, and sales. We caught up with Linh to learn more about her transition from BigBuzz to AUDIENCEX, as well as her day to day duties.

Linh at Work

What does a day in the life of an Associate Social Strategist at AUDIENCEX look like?

My job requires lots of collaborating on social content ideas, which is my favorite part! I do all things social media, which includes community management, reporting, strategizing, researching and everything that goes into creating an awesome social media channel for our clients! It brings me so much joy seeing my ideas being put out into the world.

How have you adjusted to working from home?

Despite the WiFi cutting out what seems like every other day, my workspace is constantly improving since I’m spending so much more time there. I’ve added a desk plant, candles, and just things that make the space feel more like me. The plus side is, I also get occasional visits from my roommates’ dogs throughout the day!

What was it like for you to transition from working on the BigBuzz Marketing team to merging with the AUDIENCEX team?

At first I thought it would be overwhelming to go from a 11 to 70+ person team, but the amazing company culture that aX provides has been welcoming and made the transition very smooth, especially with the monthly get-togethers like Movie Club, and special events like the New Hire Mixer. The many opportunities to collaborate on other projects with different departments have been really great! They have allowed me to continue to build my skillset for a wide range of clients from various industries.

Tell us a little about your professional experience prior to joining AUDIENCEX & how they have prepared you for your role here.

I recently graduated from college last spring (so I was part of the 2020 COVID graduating class woot woot!) and have been interning in social digital marketing with Bigbuzz Marketing Group since the Fall 2019, which eventually turned into a full-time position right after graduation. After our merger with AUDIENCEX, it has opened up more opportunities and ideas for how the organic social department can help with their clients’ needs.

Outside the Office

What are your hobbies or activities that you look forward to doing on the weekends or after work?

(Safely) exploring everything NYC has to offer, whether that be trying out a new restaurant, immersing myself in art at galleries, or being mesmerized by the Manhattan skyline (I know, such a tourist thing—sue me!). I also love going back to Connecticut to visit friends and family—there’s no place like home..

What’s the last show you marathoned, and what about it has you hooked?

OMG, definitely the Cecil Hotel documentary on Netflix! Something about a crime show right before bed always hits right.

What are you listening to lately (podcasts, music, etc)?

Anything on the Alternative, R&B, and Latin Spotify playlists! It was time to explore new music because I got  tired of replaying Ari and Meg’s new albums.

Tell us one or two fun facts about you.

I speak three languages and I acted all throughout high school and college, so I’m quite the drama queen.

What is your favorite moment you’ve had with the AUDIENCEX team so far?

Laughing together and sharing similar interests during the New Hire Mixer zoom call.

What are 3 things you think are going to change in the advertising industry in the next 3 years? Why?

Hopefully we will begin to see more diversity and inclusion in campaigns, challenges with new privacy updates, like Apple’s iOS 14, and brands building a more human connection with their audience.

What type of ad do you think you’ll be targeted with next? Why?

Since spring is around the corner, probably a sundress from Madewell or Zara. No one knows my fashion preferences better than the Facebook algorithms!

What are you looking forward to most in the next 5 years?

Just living a very intentional and meaningful life—living it to the fullest! I love growing relationships in all aspects of my life whether that be the friendships I have, or professional connections through work.
